Forkchop and Friends' Food Travels

This is the first post of a special series on "Forkchop's Thoughts" called "Forkchop and Friends' Food Travels".

Before anything else; aside from being a husband and a father, I AM A FOODIE! I love food. I enjoy watching Food Network, especially Triple D - Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. That show has to be one of my favorite shows on TV. It has inspired us to become Diner Chasers ourselves, hence the new series of posts. Maybe a video blog soon? Who knows.

10/18/2009 - Primanti Bros. (Strip District)/ Mulligan's Clubhouse

We departed Muncy, PA around 12:15pm to begin our journey to Pittsburgh to the original Primanti Bros. Pub located on in the Historic Strip District, Pittsburgh. Today's traveling companions included Dan Winkleman, Derek Klopp, and Brian Bennett, all fellow foodies. As well as being Foodies - Dan and Derek are Cigar aficionados as well.

We stopped at a Sheetz location for trip necessities - bottle water, pop, honey roasted peanuts, and assorted gems - then proceeded to our destination. After 3 1/2 hours and getting lost - we finally made it to Primanti's. The outside of the establishment made me feel as if I was in an episode of CHEERS.

After being seated; and using the bathroom (I do not recommend this), we ordered our food off the giant sized menu on the wall. Dan and I chose the Sirloin Steak Sandwich, with Coke for beverage. Nice to see an establishment offer Coca Cola instead of Pepsi. Derek ordered the same sandwich except with Egg and Double Meat. His choice of beverage was Iron City, a local favorite. Needless to say the beer did not live up to the hype, like the sandwich. The beer was as hideous as the service. Yes the service was awful, as the atmosphere. Brian decided on the Turkey and Coke, which he said was great.

As Dan and I placed and order for our significant others, a group of drunks decided to encourage on their inebriated buddy to keep going. He began to vomit at the table in a brown paper bag. Folks around us began to look disgusted - and it took at least 6 minutes for anyone in authority to say anything. After traveling over 160 miles (One Way!) for a sandwich - this was a HUGE let down. We left the establishment mildly disgusted - but the food was good. The sandwiches were not as big as the TV made them out to be.

Mulligans was the redemption for the trip. We left Primanti's still hungry and decided that it was time to break out the cigars. Dan; being the smart man he is, did some research and called ahead for the skinny on the place. Turns out they not only had fried pickles - but also a clubhouse where one could smoke their cigars. We arrived, promptly greeted by a waitress who was fantastic (not to mention sexy). Her name was Rachel and she deserves one HELL OF A RAISE.

This place is awesome and has a great selection of food. Dan decided on the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and the Spicy fried pickles with orange soda for a beverage. Brian chose the Chicken Nachos with cheese and guacamole. He had several glasses of wine - from a Redcat to a house White wine. He was all the entertainment after that.

Derek reeled in the Fried Calamari served with a truly delicious marinara sauce. He washed his plate down with several Micro-brews, names of which I cannot remember. The Forkchop decided on "THE MAN DOG" which I have appropriately changed to "THE DEVIL'S WIENER". This device of gluttony is created by rolling a 1/4 all Beef Wiener in Ground Beef, then wrapped in bacon, deep friend, then placed in a homemade baguette, finally covered in Chili and Cheese, served with fries.

I also had a cup of chili and a glass of Southampton Double Wieter Beer. This beer was delicious, a white beer spiced with coriander, lemon and orange zest. Nothing impresses me more than a pub that has a beer list. Lot's to choose from including Dogfishhead 60 and 90 minute IPAs, another Forkchop favorite.

After enjoying our meal and some excellent cigars; we took our picture with the lovely Rachel, then headed home. We stopped at yet another Sheetz, purchased some Lattes - then off to home. It was a great time, excellent paranormal and political discussion, but more importantly shared great memories over really great food.

Thanks for reading all - hopefully we will see you in our food travels. All the best!

Summerslam Tonight on PPV and Misc. Notes

World Wrestling Entertainment turns up the heat tonight as they present "Summerslam", their annual Summer blockbuster Pay-Per-View.

Having been a wrestling fan since birth, I have to tell you that I wait for this time with serious anticipation all summer. In fact - it's my second favorite time of year next to- well you guessed it - WRESTLEMANIA. Being the Uberfan I am - some of my pals will be here tonight watching as I broadcast "Beyond the Edge Radio" live. That's always a challenge; balancing two of my favorite things, wrestling and the paranormal.

I have majorly overbooked myself this week. Now I have to find time to fit everything in. Meetings, Work, My 24th Birthday, an expedition - the list goes on...

Looking forward to Halloween 2 coming out this Friday. Another one of the Forkchop's guilty pleasures. Horror Movies. And yes, they are abdundant this time of year. Not always the pride of Hollywood, but some damn fun entertainment. After all, that's what movies are supposed to be.

'Til next time!

I'm Back!

Well, its been a rough few months. Lot's of personal turmoil and coming to grips with reality have really awaken me to appreciate the world as it is, instead of what I want it to be.

In the downtime - I spent a lot of time with a woman who knows me better than I gave her credit for, and someone who has give me more than I could have ever dreamed. My wife, Laura. My Silent Partner in all things who gives me guidance when I struggle with my quest of finding myself. Will we ever truly find ourselves? I dunno - so I quit trying. I love who I am now, and my experiences will change that person as I grow.

The Bigfoot research is back in full swing, as well as opening up new Paranormal cases - currently working on a case that was recently featured on a Paranormal TV show. Never hurts to get a second opinion. I have found my passion in this alternative science, and truly enjoy helping people deal with their "problems".

I stated on here that I would do some reviews, Star Trek and such. Well, they will be coming, but Star Trek can be summed up in one word - AWESOME!

Star Trek: Losing the Peace, the next book following A Singular Destiny, will be released on June 30th, and I anxiously await it. How will the Federation be tested this time as we see the emergence of "The Typhon Pact"?

Yes I am Trekkie. Not the uniform wearing uberfan, but a trekkie none the less...

Until next time, be good!

Where are the posts?

Bare with me folks, posts are coming. I have received books to review at an alarming rate, movies to rate and review, and investigations to finish.

Last weekend, I did a presentation on Bigfoot at the 'Cosmic Sage' in Montoursville, PA; a wonderful bookstore run by Connie Robbins - a fantastic lady. The folks in attendance were wonderful, and some had experiences that I will be investigating. Ernie Delp joined me in this presentation, and we had a fun time putting it on. I will share more on that with you in a future blog.

Seems that I have gone more independent with investigations. I've been out there in groups and trying to be a voice for a community that already has too many. I tell you, humility is a great experience to learn from. I learned that I don't need to be leader - or always need to be right. I have also learned to beware of the so called leaders - who aren't fit enough to lead anything. This field once again has too many chiefs. I took my bow - and have decided to sit and work in the dark -I've enjoyed the search a lot more.

It's gonna be a fast day around here... so I am gonna finish this off now. Thanks for checking back in with me - and soon I hope to have my review of Star Trek up. Until then - be true to yourself, and each other.

All the Best,

Paranormal TV, SEARCH, and Notes

Well, my DVR is packed full of "A Haunting" and "Paranormal State" episodes that I have missed the last few weeks. I must say that the insurgence of paranormal based television shows is both a blessing and a curse; but certainly leave a fan of the paranormal with much to watch and asborb.

Now, take this for what it's worth - but the majority of shows out there are entertainment. They provide us with a historical overlay, then add 35 minutes of camera cuts and scary music - but provided nothing in terms of actual research for evidence.

How do I know this? For one - I am a Paranormal Investigator, having been on many cases that have yielded nothing. Question for you? Why is it that these folks manage to get all the activity? Could that possibly be due to the fact it's manufactured for TV? And don't get me started on the safety issues of one show. Yeah - let's lock ourselves in a morgue. Forget about getting hurt or other dangers. That shows folks how to be responsible on investigations!

I enjoy shows like GhostHunters and Paranormal State. These shows are not afraid to ask questions and call bullshit - "bullshit" (they are nice about it though.) They also practice safety. The other shows tend to make me scratch my head and wonder.

Currently, we are working on webshow called "SEARCH". This show will be a monthly program that investigates all kind of paranormal phenomena. Expect the music -but don't expect the camera cuts and over exaggerated scenarios.
Expect alot of humor. We are a self produced show, and are looking for folks who may be interested in sponsoring us. Have extra cash you wanna throw around - contact me: seanforker@anomalis.net

Though I have been less of an active prowrestling fan this year, I am still throwing my annual Wrestlemania party here at the house this Sunday. A few friends will be over - kick back a few brews, and watch the best in the business grapple in the Grandaddy of the all! Not to mention the food here is usually good as well.

Thanks for Reading. Yours in All,

Jan Klement Mystery Solved? Ramblings from the Fat Man!

Finally one of the most provocative Bigfoot mysteries appears to have been solved thanks to the super sleuthing of Loren Coleman. By that I am referring to Jan Klement, the mysterious author of the book "The Creature"; who apparently witnessed a Bigfoot up close in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in the early 1970s. In fact - he witnessed Bigfoot doing some interesting things, such as "plowing a cow". Yes - that's right... Boning a cow. It's quite the read, and you can buy it by clicking HERE.

Loren did his homework on this long standing case - so go over to Cryptomundo.com and check it out. No Spoilers from me. (At the writing of this, it appears Cryptomundo.com is down - so no link can be provided at this time).

The Sci Fi Channel appears to be revamping their brand - by going phonetic. SciFi becomes SyFy - with an aggressive marketing campaign starting this Spring. The new channel slogan is slated to become "Imagine Greater" - whatever in the hell that means. Somethings just can't be left alone, and everything has become a gimmick. For more info on this change, go to: http://www.syfy.com - I hope they do make some changes to their programming.

Well - rumor has it that the long awaited Windows 7 is in final development and will be in stores soon. Let's see how much Microsoft can screw this one up! I am not a Vista hater by any means, but seriously - is a new OS really the answer to Microsoft's problems? Doubtful, but trust me... folks will be lining up like idiots to buy the new problem - I mean program.

I go back to Beyond the Edge Radio next week - after a hiatus. As soon as I came back from illness, my wife's Grandma passed away. We surely will miss Grandma - and life just won't be the same anymore without here. I still remember all the conversations, and that special laugh of Grandma's. Two weeks later - and the pain of loss is ever prevalent. Not to mention - I am really gonna miss that homemade Strawberry Jelly.

That's all I got for today. I am taking a nice weekend off. There should be more entries posted soon.

Yours in all,
+Forkchop

Still Around...

Well, it's been a while since my last post so let me fill you in what's been going on. The Anomalis Investigation team in conjunction with the SPIRIT Paranormal team have wrapped up their first joint investigation - and what an investigation it was. Due to the situation not being resolved as of yet, we won't be able to discuss it here on the blog. Needless to say it was a very fun, interesting, yet sobering experience.

My desk continually gets filled with more books, magazines, dvds - you name it, it's here. I am currently reading and reviewing what is being sent, so if you are waiting for the results - stay tuned. I may be recruiting some of my paranormal research partners and friends to partake in this reviewing frenzy.

Having been sick the last few weeks, I have been temporary off the air. For those of you who are interested - I will be returning this coming Friday night to my home - Beyond the Edge Radio. We have not been able to confirm Brian Harnois (GHI, Ghost Hunters) - but we will be bringing you a new guest to Beyond the Edge Radio.

I just want to take a moment and thank all my friends and fill in hosts who have been a huge help during my abscense. Special thanks to my partner Eric Altman who has been pulling double duty on the show. It is truly a blessing to have good friends!

This blog will also be chronicalling my trip to the Yakima Bigfoot Roundup in Washington state, as well as the first ever American Bigfoot Society Expedition. I am excited about the future, and the many trips I will be embarking on, as well as the people I will be meeting.

Thanks for Reading All! Keep coming back - I love the company.

Yours in All,

Sasquatch Experience Returns... Official Seventh Season Begins 2/14

Henry May returned last night with a special preview of Sasquatch Experience Season 7 with guest host Bill Green. The show was great, and I am proud once again to join Henry is bringing you quality Bigfoot talk radio.

I've been watching Monster Quest Season 2 on DVD (Thanks A&E), and with the exception of a few episodes-*Cough* Vampires, Ghosts - it was not a bad season. I anxiously await Season 3; with an episode featuring my friends from the TBRC taking Monster Quest to Arkansas in search of the Fouke Monster.

It's Superbowl Sunday, so for millions of folks that means some Major football, but for Forkchop it means a Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International marathon on the SciFi Channel. However, since I am a Pennsylavnia man - Here we go Steelers, here we go!!!! Mom is coming over to visit - I will be making chili and wings - so I will be blogging from the bathroom tomorrow. HAHA!

Forkchop meets Satan... and more notes

We'll this past weekend was quite eventful in terms of my research. Saturday night I was part of an investigation of a home where the owner claims ghost activity. After spending several hours there, we collected a lot of data - as we go over the data this week, we will hopefully have answers as to what is going on there. It was a fun and educational experience.

On Sunday night we searched our research area (Area 001) for any recent Sasquatch activity. Not much happened in terms of activity; maybe a possible vocalization, but nothing Earth shattering to report. We made it to one of our bunkers and photographed so interesting artwork done by the local cultists (lmao). Above is a picture with me coming face to face with what I call SATAN. The terrain was icy and the temperature cold (2 degrees); I slipped and fell on my ass, but all in all a fun cold night to be with friends.

Today I have been working on some reports, a few websites, the radio shows for this week, and trying to squeeze in a little reading to get some of these books reviewed.

Another note of interest - the fine folks at A&E Home Video took note of my blog and are sending me a few copies of MonsterQuest Season II on DVD. Check out my Friday night show Beyond the Edge Radio
for information on how to win one of these free copies. For those of you who don't do contests, you can buy them HERE. Thank You A&E! Just to quell any rumors; though I'm sure the show would be a hit, A&E has not approached me for TV. I think I am too RAW for them to handle. HA!

Thanks for stopping by - Yours in all!
